“I, Too, Sing America” was conceived by composer Othello Jefferson as a love letter to his daughters; a work that reflected them on the stage. The show aims to represent a fuller picture of people of color in theater by telling stories that don’t solely focus on oppression and pain but also include ambition, competition, triumph, tradition, joy, and reflection.
